Well back from Holidays and was great, holidays need to be longer, good to see most have finished the longest harvest in history.
Weather this week seems to be much the same as we have had, max temps in the low 30's and mins in the mid teens with cloudy conditions.
Friday 10th Likely thunderstorms throughout the district
Fine with clearing cloud for the rest o week until
Thursday 16th Likely shower or 2, <5mm

My Last update for a while as I'm on annual leave and really the weather is much the same, seems fine until at least Friday 27th and then maybe a couple of thunderstorms, slight chance of a storm on Saturday the 22nd, temps mid to high 30's

This week has gone much as expected, I even got the cyclone.

The next week looks similar with temps in the high 20's - low 30's with little rain until Thursday.

Saturday 14th Possible thunderstorms but more likely in southern area's.
Monday 16th cooler with some cloud and possible drizzle
Wednesday 18th Rain in the evening
Thursday 19th Wide spread rain Likely, >10mm

Not much to report this week ahead, Cloudy and Windy Saturday, a high moving in should see fine weather for this week with temps from Mid 20's to low 30's, a couple of lows forming off the Pilbara & Kimberley coasts may need to be watched mid week.
Weather zone's 28 day forecast doesn't look promising but don't take much notice, the high risk rain days disappear as we get closer to them, at last look it shows all this week fine with the next 21 days as high risk rain, 2 weeks ago this week was also high risk rain. It is impossible to predict 28 days ahead, especially this time of the year, summer will get here soon, hopefully for my holidays

Wow 2012 already, looks like we may get a wet finish to 2011 though, hopefully not but thunderstorms are hanging around.
What happened for December and for 2011
Wettest Day: 13th December 84.4mm, though falls in other area's were above 100mm and some as high as 230mm
Total Rain for the month: 137.9mm (8 Days) but again some area's are well above this and over 300mm, this is an all time monthly record beating the previous record of 95mm in 1913.
Yearly Total (until 30th December): 614mm which is 323mm more than we received last year but well short of the 1955 record of 741mm.
Highest Temp for the year: was 42c on January 28 with the record being 44.7c on the 03/02/2007
Lowest Temp for the year: was -0.6c on 5th August with the record low being -3.1c on 06/09/1956

My prediction for 2012 is around 450mm of rain with good falls from May - September, I base my prediction on averages from similar years, I did say it would be wet this year as the last time we had low cyclones was 1978 which was a wet year, for this year I predicted a possible 600mm with a wet October and November, missed December

For this week chance of thunderstorms Friday Afternoon and Saturday with heavier falls in eastern area's
Light Rain possible Wednesday 3rd January
Heavier Rain Thursday 4th with possible 10mm - 20mm

Wow another bad week for rain, have heard of falls of 220mm in one day in Williams area but many other area's over 100mm, Narrogin officially 101mm for the week with 84mm coming over one night, Western side of town seems to have got more than official figures with 3 people recording over 120mm.
Some districts out east won't get started harvest again until after Christmas mainly due to wet ground and bog risk.
The long term seems to be much of the same with 8-12 cyclones predicted and a wet summer.
Over the short term this week appears fine and cloud clearing, no rain predicted.
Christmas is hard to pick at this stage, last week I wrote to put on the shorts, this week I would have them on hold, it appears to be in the low to mid 30's over Christmas .......... with rain, will be more sure next week, all modules though are indicating rain and high humidity

9-15 December 2011

What a week that has just passed, Narrogin had 40mm of rain but eastern area's much worse, the highest I heard was 170mm, some parts of Harrismith had 100mm in 1 fall and area's of Pingelly 80mm, in the east 50-100mm seems to be the average and west of Narrogin in Williams etc more around 20mm.
This week could produce much of the same with widespread thunderstorms expected Monday.
Saturday 10th Should be fine with increasing cloud on Sunday
Monday 12th Afternoon thunderstorms expected with possible local flooding
Tuesday-Wednesday 13-14th Light rain and drizzle
Temps over the weekend should be mid to high 20's with low to mid 20's for the rest of the week with cloud
Not very good harvesting conditions, but things should improve Thursday..
Christmas is looking fine and warm, but with the thunderstorm conditions hanging around, anything can happen, I will put my neck out though and say over the Christmas break fire up the BBQ and put on the shorts it will be fine

2 - 8 December

Mixed bag this week with the weekend temps in low 30's, a bit of rain Monday - Wednesday and a low off the coast around Carnarvan moving in around Friday
Monday 5th, Drizzle most of the day
Tuesday 6th Showers increasing throughout the day >5mm
Wednesday 7th showers decreasing throughout the day <5mm
Cloudy Thursday and fine conditions returning
Following week looks fine, depending on the movement of a mid level low

Harvest for most is going excellent with some big crops reported from most area's, seems though to be a lot of damaged machinery appearing in the last few days and damage mainly happening later in the day or evening, it is far better to get the crop off than to damage equipment trying to squeeze in another hour or so.
Reports are that several fronts have been bent throughout the wheatbelt, they won't be fixed before January, so any other damaged fronts will be fixed later than January, there are no spare fronts in the state, so take it easy or you could be up for a big hire bill, even availability of machines to hire is thin.

All looks much the same as we have had for the last week, slightly cooler temps in the Mid to High 20's with minimums in the low to mid teen's.
Cloudy for the beginning of the week and risk of Thunderstorms in the east
Tuesday 29th, Chance of drizzle and windy
Long term looks dry for most of December, boring summer weather :-)

EDIT Friday 25th November saw Lake Grace get 27mm of rain in the evening

11 - 17 November

Finally looks like a rain free week, slight chance of rain towards the end of the week.
Maximum temps in the mid to high 20's

4-10 November

Well what a week, Narrogin did break the 117 year record for rain in one day with an official total for Thursday 3-11-11 of 47mm, some places recorded as much as 70mm for the day, most fell in a couple of hours in the afternoon, a lot of area's experienced flash flooding with many bridges under water. Cunderdin had a heavy fall of 35mm in around half an hour
The rest of this week will see light showers and drizzle until around Thursday, a huge high is moving in and looks like parking in the bight and fine weather should return, the rest of the month is looking dry.

Fri 4th - Thur-10th Light showers and drizzle, heavier showers are likely Tuesday 8th in the evening.

27 October - 3 November

October has seen another 50.8mm of rain this year in Narrogin, which is 18mm above the long term average.
We are still 48mm behind the average year to date, and no surprise we have had 143mm more rain than the same time last year, our wettest October was 1977 with 127.4mm and driest was 1944 with 1.6mm.
Novembers wettest month 79.4mm in 1983 and officially the lowest is 0mm in1891 and the wettest November day was 38.1mm on 27th, 1965, long term monthly average is 17.9mm.
This November is looking dry after a wet start, we may even give the wettest day on record a shake on Thursday 3rd, with thunderstorms predicted into the weekend. A lot of mid level activity this week should see most of the state on a line between Broome, Kalgoorlie and Albany get rain with Thursday evening looking very wet in our district.
This week will see minimum temps in the low to mid teens and maximums in the mid 20's
Wed 2nd Late afternoon Thunderstorms with rain continuing to Thursday <5mm
Thu 3rd Rain and drizzle during the day with heavy afternoon and evening storms, could see 25mm+ but as always unstable activity is very hard to pick, but Wednesday-Thursday should see us break the long term monthly average of 17.9mm

21 -27 October 2011

Could be a wet week ahead depending on the movement of a couple of mid level lows.
Saturday 22nd will see rain developing in the mid afternoon and into Sunday 5-10mm
Monday 24th, afternoon drizzle with the chance of rain, low off the Bunbury coast should produce heavier rain on the coast, also rain around Geraldton may mingle and move inland, to hard to predict.
Tuesday 25th should see more showers <5mm, the low is predicted to be still off the Bunbury coast and could move inland producing heavy showers.
Cloud and drizzle for Wednesday and Thursday.
Frost risk is Nil with minimum temps 8 - 12c and maximums of low 20's, there is a lot of unstable activity off the coast, rain could be 25mm+ for the week but be prepared for 10mm and a lot of drizzle.

14 - 20 October 2011

Fine weekend coming up with a High of 31 degrees forecast for Sunday 16th
Tuesday 18th should see up to 10mm of rain but mid level disturbance could see more in storms
Thursday 20th rain less than 5mm
A bit further ahead looks like rain next weekend 22-23rd but more news next week

Last week saw some heavy storms, Narrogin Townsite had the heaviest hail storm I have seen in 10 years here, 17mm of rain fell in around 15 minutes!
This week should see a little rain;
Saturday 8th, mid afternoon into Sunday, 5 - 10mm
Thursday 13th, afternoon < 5mm
A low centred off the coast around Geraldton should see rain from around Carnarvan - Perth on Monday afternoon, this may lead to thunderstorms in the upper great southern Monday evening and Tuesday.
Frost risk this week is nil with minimum temps 8 - 10c

If your heading east, NSW and Queensland is looking very wet and floods are likely

October 2011

30th September - 6th October
This week should see rain on Friday 30th, couple of mm
Sunday the 2nd, mid afternoon around 5mm
Wednesday 5th, late evening into Thursday Morning 5-10mm
October Average Rainfall for Narrogin is 31.5mm, it is unlikely we will get much more unless we get some unstable weather that is hard to predict, more rain is due in the second week of October, this time of year it is far harder to see much more ahead, so stay tuned.
Frost risk is almost Zero with minimum temperatures between 4-8c forecast for the week
Remember that predicted rainfall is for the Narrogin area and west of Narrogin may see a little more and east a little less than predicted.
